"When I finished the transcription of "Almoraima" as the official edition of transcriptions of Paco de Lucía's discography, his brother Ramon asked me to start working on "Solo Quiero Caminar" (as per our agreement to do transcriptions of the Maestro’s entire discography) , for the next book of the series. This was the dark, dark day he was diagnosed this a lung tumor. In spite of his condition, we decided to go on with the project.
He left us when I had the tangos "Solo Quiero Caminar" and a big chunk of the bulerías "La Tumbona" ready. Without his leadership, the Maestro Paco had to dissolve the company, given that he didn't have any time to dedicate to it, and the project was stopped. I have these transcriptions as a memento of my unforgettable time with Maestros Ramon and Paco.
As a result, these transcriptions were left in my desk drawer, unpublished and abandoned. This caused me a lot of frustration, considering the amount of time and hard work invested in this project. When the Maestro left us, I started pondering on the dilemma as to whether to share them (for free, of course, as an homage to the Genius from Algeciras). Finally, I decided that instead of leaving the transcriptions in the drawer, rendering them useless, it would be a lot better to share them with my fellow lovers of Maestro’s immortal music. I can’t and I won’t charge anything for them, I just want to share with you the fruit of the effort that was cut short, due to the sad circumstances you all know.
I uploaded here the tangos”Solo Quiero Caminar”, with the amazing flute part by Jorge Pardo and the great bass track by Carles Benavent, as well as the cante by Pepe de Lucía.
I also offer here the part of the bulería “La Tumbona” I transcribed."
